Our Policies
Ownership of material:
Before posting information to this site, you must ensure that you have the rights to duplicate the material, and to allow us to duplicate it. Whilst AussiePilot's gains access rights to the information by posting it here, you still own the posted material and may remove it when you wish to do so (unless it is freely available information such as MTOW's and V speeds, in which case you may remove it, but you cannot claim that you have copyright ownership of Vspeeds). In the case of anonymous content, where you have posted without a username, removal may not be possible (unless there is proof available). This is because its difficult to prove that you posted it in the first case, and I do not want to open the site to accidental removal of other posts. Posting anonymously is at your own risk. Takedown requests (or summaries/extracts of them) will be made public, to allow greater transparency of the operation of this website, and to alert others of where information may now be missing (if you remove a description of Moorabbin Airport for instance, and you demand its removed, I think its only fair that others can see that another needs to be re-added).
By posting to this website, you also give us the right to duplicate the information without cost via electronic or other form of media. Its unlikely we will ever end up in a magazine article though, or that information will be duplicated anywhere other then online. Don't post information here and demand 6 months later we pay for every user view of the information. I wont succumb to blackmail, and I can't afford to anyway (this website operates at a loss running into the hundreds of dollars per year).
The content of posts may be modified sometimes for various reasons. But they will generally be common sense edits (such as fixing grammer in humour posted, or if you posted nudity in a blog, then to prevent a torrent of complaints, the image may be removed).
Your Privacy:
I will do my best to maintain your privacy. All information which you post as public information though, will likely remain public information. Keep in mind that we employ the use of Google Adsense to serve ads (which you may opt out of), an ad provider which uses cookie tracking. I don't use any other ad provider though (and technically, anyone who uses google gets the same ads). More details are below
Sometimes there are circumstances outside of my control (such as if the site gets compromised) which may affect your privacy, however, if I believe that your details have been compromised, I will certainly try to let you know. At the end of the day, the best privacy policy is to use anonymous information, and keep in mind that this site is as secure as any other site, so if privacy is important, you should always take your own steps to protect it. You may also opt out of Adsense tracking using the information below.

Safety policy:
As this is a public forum, there is no foreseeable way that I can guarantee that you will not be subjected to "dodgy material". If I am aware of racist remarks, possibly offensive photos or other offensive information I will try to remove them. Posts which endanger the lives of pilots on purpose will also not be tolerated! An example of such would be telling trainee pilots, who are about to embark on their first solo, that if they have a wing drop to the left, they should use the left rudder to recover. We all make mistakes, but if it is an obvious mistake that endangers lives, its not good for anyway.
Unfortunately, its difficult to be perfect because sometimes the internet ninja's are too fast, so as with any other forum, users who are under 18 should get permission from their parents, and I cannot guarantee the quality or safety of material here.
Overall policy:
I'll try to be as ethical as possible with maintaining this website, and I'll do my best to keep things clean. However, its sometimes difficult to be 100% perfect, so like any other forum, those who are easily offended or are concerned about being exposed to possibly questionable material should avoid all internet forums (including this site). It is unlikely a moderator will be online 24/7, so questionable posts could exist for hours or even weeks (if I get stuck at an airfield due to weather for instance, clearly I will NOT be spending my time checking emails). If you come across dodgy material though, let me know and I'll try to handle it ;)
I'm not perfect, however, please recognise that this site is free, and costs money to run, so there may be occasional issues. I will however strive to do my best :D
This policy may change eventually (policies sometimes need tweaking). However, I will always try to run an ethical website.
